GAP Apprentices Awarded for Excellence
GAP Group is delighted to report the recent success of a number of its apprentices, including those who have won awards for excellent performance in their apprenticeships, and one apprentice who has been shortlisted for the top award at her college.
Daniel McGonigal, who is based at GAP’s Sighthill depot, won the 1st year apprentice of the year award at the National Construction College award ceremony in Inchinnan on Friday the 24th of June, receiving a prize of £200 worth of tools. Daniel started with the company as a labourer in August 2009, and worked his way into an apprenticeship a year later.
Furthermore, GAP’s Kilmarnock based apprentice, Jack Murdoch is in his first year of the CTB Plant Mechanics course and has been awarded the course prize from North Glasgow College. The annual awards ceremony took place at the Glasgow City Chambers, at George Square, on Friday 1st July where Jack proudly received his worthy prize in front of his family and Manager, David Bell, who were delighted to show their support.
GAP is also very pleased to announce that its only female apprentice, Claire Eichmann, based at the Northampton depot has been nominated for one of the top awards at the National Construction College awards. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 27th July where it is hoped Claire will make it a hat-trick for GAP.
Managing Director, Douglas Anderson, commented, “We are very proud of all three of our successful apprentices and the hard work they have put in during their apprenticeships. We always stress how important our staff is and our apprentices may possibly be the future of the company so we continuously encourage them to learn and develop”.
GAP is currently offering 23 Plant Mechanic Apprenticeships throughout the UK, which shows the company’s commitment to providing job prospects for people in the different regions in which it operates. Furthermore, it also proves that the company is performing very well, despite the recent difficult trading conditions.
