GAP GROUP AND KAJIMA JOIN FORCES IN KEY DEAL

GAP Group, the UK's largest independent tool and plant hire company, have joined forces with Kajima Direct. GAP has secured preferred status within this new subsidiary of Kajima Construction Europe (UK) Ltd, part of one of the world's largest construction companies.

Kajima's Visions and Strategic Intent (Smart Building Solutions in a Unique Way) along with their 'can do' attitude is driving the way forward, delivering package works in house, leading to employment for 500 people or more over the next five years. The Project Accordia Cambridge deal sees Kajima Direct demolish existing Inland Revenue offices in Cambridge and construct new purpose-built premises.

GAP has beaten off fierce competition from other national hire companies to clinch a deal supplying a complete range of small tools alongside dumpers, excavators and compressors. Kajima Direct have already acquired £10million worth of packages within Kajima Construction.

GAP, who have recently secured a number of high profile partnerships including Interserve Projects in Leicester and Balfour Beatty on London's M25 widening project, are continuing to grow steadily with 60% of hire revenue coming from key national and regional accounts.

Over 60% of GAP's business now comes from National and Regional accounts. Ian Campbell, Key Account Manager for GAP, explained, "GAP's continued and successful growth has enabled the firm to deliver what our customers want- reliable plant and tools at competitive rates, backed up with the best service in the hire industry. In order for GAP to achieve our vision we will need to forge more Partnerships with our National Account Customers. Kajima Direct have given us the opportunity to assist them in their vision. Our culture and value are mirrored with Kajima Direct. Both will promote the highest standards of safety, act with openness and integrity and conduct ourselves in a reliable, considerate and fair manner."

John Keeley, Kajima Direct Procurement Manager said "our suppliers needed to see the benefits of becoming a vital element within the Kajima Direct Team. We seek to improve relationships within the supply chain, developing mutual trust and understanding, whilst working hard to reduce costs.

GAP Group have grasped their opportunity with both hands and like any of our preferred status agreements, are not just content with taking orders, they are problem solvers and solution finders, dedicated to providing a real service".
