TRAILER CHECKS
Trailers are used for a variety of work within the construction industry particular attention should be taken to ensure that the trailer being used by the operative has been checked and inspected on a Daily basis and has a maintenance programme in place.
We all have a legal responsibility to ensure that the trailer being used is fit for the road and fit for the purpose it is being used for. If we do not maintain or look after the trailer we may fall foul of the law and could potentially cause a serious accident.
Drivers should always check that they are permitted to tow, as it is an offence to tow any un-braked trailer with a gross load in excess of 50% of the kerbside weight of the towing vehicle or 750kg whichever is lowest.
The driver is responsible to ensure that any load is properly secured at all times and should check this periodically.
Always keep on the right side of the law and keep your trailer safe and legal.
