Our customer, Balfour Beatty, was asked to attend the HS2 site to address the site manager’s concern regarding the daily refilling of AdBlue on their 100kVA generator, including weekends. There was also a significant concern about the generator shutting down on several occasions due to missed refills of both AdBlue and diesel. Given the critical 24/7 nature of the site, this issue needed to be resolved quickly.
Due to the lack of remote monitoring capabilities for the engine’s DEF status, the site had no choice but to “play it safe” by receiving a tanker lorry every day. However, with the volume of AdBlue needed being so low (sometimes as little as three litres), this was a very expensive way of managing the AdBlue requirements. Additionally, remote monitoring of the diesel was not possible either.
Balfour Beatty turned to GAP for assistance in resolving these challenges. Our team recommended AutoDEF® , the automatic AdBlue Replenishment System. From arriving on sire to fully installing the AutoDEF® IBC Ready and Fluid Smart Diesel Level Sensor, the installation took only seven minutes! With its unique “plug and play” functionality, the AutoDEF® IBC Ready requires no programming. Additionally, with AutoDEF® telemetry fitted as standard, the customer can now monitor several parameters from anywhere in the world.

In addition to the remote monitoring capabilities, the end-user will also now receive various alerts to ensure a trouble-free solution is maintained.
