GAP recognised for low carbon commitment
GAP Group has been shortlisted for the Low Carbon Excellence category in the ‘Construction News Specialists Awards 2014’ following a year of investment and commitment to the low carbon agenda.
The Awards, which recognise outstanding achievements in the construction industry, are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and take place on the 19th March 2014 at London Hilton on Park Lane.
GAP’s entry focussed on the company’s commitment to becoming a ‘greener’ organisation and the implementation of more environmentally efficient practices across the fleet and day to day operating procedures of the business as a whole. All new equipment that GAP buys complies with the latest emission regulations resulting in better fuel consumption.
In 2013, GAP Group secured national exclusivity rights with construction machinery manufacturer Kubota UK on its KX080-4 – one of the most innovative and fuel-efficient excavators on the market. Kubota’s Stage IIIB compliant KX080-4 excavator, which was launched into the UK market in 2013, is specifically designed to meet and exceed legislative requirements and reduce its impact on the environment.
Offering an operating weight of up to 8.7 tonnes, Kubota’s KX080-4 provides superior digging force so operators can dig faster and more efficiently in even the toughest of conditions. A 4-cylinder Kubota manufactured engine utilises Direct Injection (DI), further helping to maximise overall performance whilst also minimising noise, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Other key low carbon benefits of the machine include Kubota’s Eco Plus feature, which results in an 18% saving on fuel usage when compared to the previous KX080-3 model without compromising on performance.
