GAP’s Welfare Services supplier wins prestigious environment award

GAP’s Welfare Services supplier of temporary accommodation and welfare units, AJC EasyCabin, has been awarded a Green Apple Environment Award in an international campaign to find the greenest companies, councils and communities.

AJC competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice and will be presented with a trophy and certificate at an award presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London, on 6th November 2017.

The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

The award follows GAP’s pledge to choose the most sustainably viable products on the market, as part of the company’s relaunched Green Action Plan. The Plan sets out GAP’s commitment to make a positive contribution to protecting the environment through their operations and by helping their customers lower their impact too.

GAP works closely with their customers to understand their evolving requirements, and this information is fed back to their suppliers. This collaboration ensures GAP can continue to offer their customers innovative hire solutions that not only reduces their carbon footprint, but also benefits the wider environment.

GAP’s range of welfare units manufactured by AJC range from 12ft to 20ft and offer numerous environmentally friendly features to reduce emissions, maintenance, fuel consumption, generator hours and noise pollution. GAP has worked with AJC to modify their EasyCabin welfare units to make them exclusive to the company. An example of which is the development of the Silent Night Inverter. The upgraded Welfare Units, a first for the UK welfare market, are powered by battery during the night. By limiting the generator, the unit ensures zero noise or emissions during nightly hours, meaning a good night’s sleep for residential neighbours and no disruptions to the job.

As a result of this Green Apple Award success, AJC has been invited to have its winning paper published in ‘The Green Book’, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice. This award is not only a recognition of AJC and GAP’s commitment to the environment, but also for all their customers who have bought into their shared core values, mission and philosophy.

The Green Apple Awards are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
