GAP Hire Solutions has been shortlisted in the Family Business of the Year Awards 2019. Organised by Family Business United, the awards were introduced in 2012 to celebrate the family business sector and the contribution that family firms bring to the UK economy and the communities in which they operate.
GAP is the hire partner of choice for customers nationwide and one of the UK’s most successful family businesses due to its ability to take risks, innovate, and think many decades ahead. The company has focused on a diversification strategy that has seen GAP grow from its traditional Plant & Tool Hire roots to a multi-service offering with eight divisions, providing customers with a complete hire solution.
As a result of its forward-thinking approach, GAP caters for a wide variety of different types of customer, ranging from local contractors through to national PLCs, in both the private and public sectors. The main sectors of the UK hire market the company operates in are utilities, infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, manufacturing, shopfitting & refurbishment, and events.
This year sees GAP celebrate its 50th anniversary. Since the company began trading in 1969, it has grown from a single depot with a turnover of £150k, to 141 depots and a turnover approaching £200m. GAP has achieved this remarkable growth trajectory through the development of long-term customer relationships by delivering excellent customer service.
Award nominations were received by Family Business United from all over the UK. The winners in the regional and sector categories will be announced on Thursday 6th June 2019 at the prestigious May Fair Hotel in London.
