'On the Tools'

GAP’s Learning & Development team have been organising product training for employees across the Group on a range of our small tools.

As part of our commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, GAP's Learning & Development team have been organising product training for employees across the Group on a range of our small tools.

Leslie Lyle, GAP’s Learning & Development Manager, explained: “At GAP, we are hugely passionate about creating added value for our customers. Ongoing product training enables GAP’s team throughout the UK to recommend the best tools for specific tasks and help customers to get the most from our hire equipment.”

GAP is working in partnership with industry-leading suppliers to deliver the training workshops.

Leslie continued: “New developments and technologies are constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the tool hire industry; product training is pivotal to ensure we have our finger on the pulse of the latest trends to meet our customers’ ever-changing requirements.

“All GAP one employees (GAP’s managed services department) are attending product training on small tools until the end of June. The feedback for the sessions delivered so far has been excellent. The training will then roll out to all regions nationwide to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to get involved. This initiative is aimed at all our employees and is tailored dependent on the job role, skill set and responsibilities.”

GAP works closely with suppliers to drive innovation with the aim of providing customers with tools and equipment that is safer, ‘greener’, and which helps deliver increased productivity for the end user.

For example, GAP has invested heavily in new, innovative battery products that bring unrivalled power and mobility. Using the latest lithium battery technology from industry renowned manufacturers, our first-rate equipment and exceptional service will make our customers’ life on site easier.

Our range of Hilti batteries are designed to be compatible with all our Hilti tools and chargers across the 22V platform. This means our customers can hire only the tools, batteries and chargers they really need, giving flexibility to customise tool hire to better match the work site.

Leslie concluded: “Developing long-term customer relationships by exceeding their expectations has been the cornerstone of GAP’s success over the last 50 years.”

“By increasing employees’ product knowledge and awareness of what our wide range of tools can do, this aids fast and informed decision making, which in turn enhances the trust and confidence our customers have in GAP.”
