At GAP Hire Solutions, the largest independent hire company in the UK, ensuring the wellbeing, health and safety of everyone is paramount.

At GAP Hire Solutions, the largest independent hire company in the UK, ensuring the wellbeing, health and safety of everyone is paramount.

Back in 2017, GAP launched its ‘Think Safe’ initiative, designed to engage the hearts and minds of its workforce and enrich the existing workplace culture. The distinct message seeks to ensure that wellbeing, health and safety remains at the forefront of the minds of GAP’s 1,800+ employees by allowing all staff to become actively involved in and positively contributing to safety as part of their normal working day.

Following on from this, GAP has introduced its ‘Think Safe Golden Rules’ which have been compiled into a handy booklet that has been sent to every current employee and will be given to any future recruit. GAP launched this campaign to help promote the importance of safety in the work environment and how to implement the necessary safety measures.

Douglas and Iain Anderson, Joint Managing Directors at GAP, commented: “We realise that it is GAP’s responsibility to provide a safe working environment and the relevant equipment to achieve this. However, it is the responsibility of all of us in the company to ensure that our Golden Rules are always followed, and everyone is aware and understands when to stop an unsafe act from occurring.”

As well as creating the booklet and making it widely available within the business, this campaign is also being shared on GAP’s social media channels to further spread the message of the importance of health and safety beyond the walls of GAP.

Adding a personal touch to the safety booklet, GAP ran a competition for the young relatives of its employees to send in their safety related drawings to be included in the booklet. Out of all the truly fantastic entries, 11 drawings in total were chosen to illustrate the different safety rules throughout GAP’s Think Safe Golden Rules booklet.

Douglas and Iain continued: “A massive thank you goes out to all the very talented young artists who shared their drawings with us. We were all very impressed with the standard of work which made it difficult to choose our 11 winners!

“We hope all entrants had as much fun creating the pictures as we did receiving them.”

Every GAP employee is encouraged to keep the GAP Think Safe Golden Rules booklet on them at all times. Make It Safe. Make It Personal. Make It Home.
