Last month, GAP Hire Solutions' Rhona McCluskey (Systems Support Analyst) and Bob Doig (Sales Support Administrator) visited Glasgow Wood Recycling, a Glasgow-based social enterprise and charity.
GAP’s Charitable Foundation, GAP Giving donated a cheque, some PPE equipment including gloves and safety goggles through one of our suppliers, as well as some of our reusable thermal coffee mugs to help see them through the sub-zero temperatures we have been experiencing!
Glasgow Wood Recycling are committed to reducing the amount of wood going to landfill; recycling this valuable natural source by using their creativity. They reuse all types of wood to make handmade indoor and outdoor furniture as well as design bespoke pieces for homes, businesses and social sector organisations. They sell a wide range of reclaimed timber and collect wood waste from homes and businesses all over Glasgow to reuse and recycle.
On top of this, Glasgow Wood Recycling provides volunteer and training opportunities to local people to tackle some of the issues we face in society today, such as unemployment, social exclusion and isolation. Their view on their social responsibility is very similar to that of GAP’s: they aim to work closely with other organisations that share their goal to reduce waste and to help local communities.
More information on the work of Glasgow Wood Recycling is available on their website.
You can read more about GAP’s Charitable Foundation here. GAP Giving was set up in April 2015 and donates around 0.5% of the company’s profits to charities.
