MYPAS is a charity dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of young people. The Bluebell Trail Run is an annual fundraising event featuring a family 1k run, a 5k race (for ages 12+), and a 10k race (for ages 16+). Pupils for East Lothian and Midlothian receive free places, with some runners earning free entry through sponsorship fundraising. The 5k and 10k races utilise professional timing chips, ensuring accurate results.
Each runner received a bespoke handmade wooden medal, crafted this year by staff and pupils from local schools, which also helped raise awareness of the charity within the local community. The event encourages donations and showcases the vital work of MYPAS at the race village.
The primary aim of the event is to raise funds to support MYPAS in delivering and expanding services that improve young people’s health and wellbeing. This includes facilitating customer-facing work, developing new services and attracting further funding.
The Bluebell Trail Run organising team is made up entirely of volunteers who manage tasks such as liaising with Dalkeith Country Park, setting up the route, marshalling, registration, parking, and arranging race village facilities like toilets and catering.
These responsibilities often require core MYPAS staff to step in, diverting their attention from other crucial duties within the charity. This creates a strain on resources and impacts overall efficiency.
GAP Hire Solutions has generously provided toilets and urinals for the event in previous years, mostly free of charge (FOC). This support has allowed the organisers to maximise the funds raised for MYPAS.
